Small Bedroom Design Tips

Whichever room it is in your home that you're re-decorating, having a limited space can be incredibly frustrating. This article will hopefully help you with your small bedroom design by offering some useful insights and pointers that you might not have previously thought of.

First are foremost, make sure you measure the bedroom. Every inch of floorspace is going to be vital and the layout needs to be meticulously thought out. Knowing precisely how much space you have to work with, in every corner of the room, is imperative.

The next stage is the layout itself. Plan the essentials first and work everything else around it. The essentials will probably (but not definitely) include:

  • Bed
  • Wardrobe
  • Draws
  • Bedside Table(s)

The first thing you should always plan with any bedroom design, not just a small one, is the position of the bed. After all, the primary function of a bedroom is to provide you with somewhere to sleep. If two people are sharing the room, it is a good idea to put the bed in a position where both sides can be accessed. However, if it's only for one person then you can consider pushing the bed against the wall to save space in other areas of the room.

A wardrobe is another big piece of furniture that often needs incorporating. A good tip is to buy a wardrobe that has a sliding door, rather than one which opens out. This is a brilliant space-saver but obviously not something that will work for everyone. Remember, you'll use the wardrobe everyday so make it as easy as possible to access and don't put anything else in front of it, which makes it hard to open the door.
